1984 (days of just barely getting laid)

by Joseph D. Reich

It was brilliant and unbelievable
how sentimental and passionate
and earnest and dramatic we were
about love back then and really meant
the world like the world was gonna end
drunk off the keg stoned and wasted
off some blunts from a bronx run after
a day looking bronzed and handsome
from the sun at some rich kid’s pool
party in the early eighties hearing
that techno digital i guess dance
song “tainted love”–‘sometimes
i feel i got to (bop bop) run away,
i got to getaway…’ and that to
us seeming to say it all…
