What if you don’t apply the Brakes?

The capacity is there
but there is not enough head room.

The space is fragile:
come upon it too quickly
and it will react in the wrong way.

What initially ring out as fragrant laughter,
suddenly quietens to tears,
leaving us to rummage
in the darkness of the moment.
