Delilah (Five Haiku)

by Mike Jewett

inspired by, and based off of, Michael Schmidt’s Delilah

hair blue as desert-neon-lights
playfully touching your lip ring
tattoo poetry speckled on slender arms

this stranger’s limousine–
head moving with the road’s little bumps
she hated names

wanderlusting her art-decked apartment
inflection-free voice mixed with indie records;
her hand was cold

a whirring sea of faces
glittering purple chandeliers-
front of the hotel

smoking, wind-blown hair in her eyes,
closed them while she took a drag
features shadowless from a thousand yellow bulbs
