Jon Turner

From 2003 to 2007 Jon served as an infantryman in the Marines and deployed 3 times, twice of which were in Iraq where he received a Purple Heart. Through creative expression, he has been able to address the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress and maneuver through the emotions that are a direct result of his time in conflict.

Since discharge, he has worked and travelled with several veterans groups teaching papermaking and creative writing so others may benefit from art therapy and work on bridging their own gap between veteran and civilian. In 2011, he brought together the first East Coast writers of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade which has extended from 4 poets in San Francisco to over 90 poets from 15 different countries.

Currently he am working with the Peace Paper Project and just self-published his second collection of poems, Reasons to Find a Stream under Seven Star Press. Much of his focus has been in raising a family and utilizing natural surroundings for further healing.
